Commercial Drainage & Utility Excavation
Plan the digging and storm drainage work for your commercial site. Share the plans and identify the system, route and connections involved. Redline will review the work you need and the tasks assigned to other trades.

Define each utility scope separately
Redline provides trenching and stormwater work, including drainage systems, culverts and catch basins. Tell us which system you need and which part of the job you want priced.
Digging, pipe placement, connections, testing, backfill and surface repairs are separate tasks. Confirm who handles each one. Water, sewer, gas, power and data connections require a separate review of the exact work and responsible trade.
Useful project information
Send the location, current utility plans and work limits. Mark known services and nearby buildings. Tell us about narrow access, business hours and any routes that must stay open.
A stormwater trench may need to fit a grading plan. A culvert may need to cross a site entrance. A catch basin may need a clear boundary for surface repairs. Share these details along with the contacts for the designer, contractor and utility owner.
Coordinate before excavation
- Review the work: identify the system, plans and work limits.
- Check the site: review access, known services, soil and storage space.
- Assign tasks: confirm who handles utility marking, permits, tests, inspections and connections.
- Plan the sequence: fit the work around grading, other utilities and site use.
- Agree the finish: define backfill, surface repairs and the records needed at handoff.
Old plans do not prove that the ground is clear. Existing utilities must be located and checked through the proper process before digging starts.
Estimate, access and schedule considerations
Trench length and depth affect the price. So do soil, water, existing utilities, traffic and access. Share the required materials, testing and finish with the estimate request.
Some work must stay open for inspection. Connections may depend on the utility owner or another contractor. Plan those dates separately from the start of excavation.
Commercial utility questions
Does Redline install every type of utility?
Tell us the exact system and work you need. We will confirm the scope before pricing. Do not assume all installation, connection or testing work is included.
Can you price trenching on its own?
Share the trench route and depth. Also tell us who will supply, install and test the system. We can then define the digging, backfill and finish.
Who arranges inspections?
Agree that responsibility with the project team before scheduling. The plan should state when inspections must happen.
Are surface repairs included?
The estimate should state the required finish. Soil, stone, pavement, concrete and landscaping each involve different work.
What if an unknown utility is found?
The project team must review the conflict and approve the next step before work in that area continues.
